From May 28 to May 30 in the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris the World Congress on Justice for Children was held. Brave Phone was also there with our two representatives – Anamarija Vuic, the local project coordinator of the AWAY project and Mia Roje, a psychologist at the Child and Youth Protection Centre of Zagreb and the mentor on the AWAY project.
This year’s congress with the name “Strengthening Justice Systems for Children: Challenges, including disengagement from violent extremism” dealt with topics of extremism, alternative measures in justice systems, diversion and child rights during legal processes. Over 850 professionals from more than 100 countries participated in the congress.
During the congress the first regional advocacy meeting was held with the participants being the partners on the AWAY project – Terre des Hommes Foundation „Lausanne“ Hungary, Terre des Hommes Romania, DCI-Belgium and Brave Phone. The Synthesis Report of the diversion research conducted as a part of the AWAY project was disseminated during the Congress. You can download and read it here.
