Peer supporters are students in the 6th to 8th grade in primary school who have been specially trained to support their peers and classmates. They are chosen by peers from their class to serve as a connection between adults and students. In their role they are encouraged to set a positive example and demonstrate appropriate behaviour. Through our mentorship programme they learn to lead workshops about children’s rights and obligations. Through their experiences in peer support they acquire skills in leadership and communication, as well as learning tolerance, patience, and respect for the opinions of others. By planning and leading group workshops of their own they can eventually pass these competencies on to their peers.
This project is carried out in Primary School Borovje and Primary School Lovro pl. Matacic.
